Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla) kept the lead in the KZ2 Prefinal, but Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) was determined to deny him 1st place. Jérémy Iglesias (Lenzo / LKE) was 3rd and was fast, ahead of Mirko Torsellini (ART GP / TM) and Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM). Bas Lammers (Formula K / Parilla) made a good start, but retired before the end of the first lap. Kozlinski (Intrepid / TM) moved up to 12th on lap 4 in the wake of Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex), who was very fast. De Conto and Torsellini in 3rd and 4th passed Iglesias, as well as Rick Dreezen (Zanardi / Parilla) and Davide Fore (CRG / TM).
Thonon was still leading at halfway, three tenths ahead of Ardigo who seemed unable to attack yet. This was not necessarily a risk to take for the championship. Dreezen retired on lap 10. Camponeschi took 5th place at the expense of Fore, with two laps to go, while Kozlinski eventually returned to 9th ahead of Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla) and Andrea Dale (CRG / Maxter). Victory went to Thonon ahead of Ardigo who had to hold off Torsellini who was right behind him. De Conto finished 4th, Camponeschi 5th and Fore 6th.
